The Orleans County Historical Association (OCHA) was founded in 1977 to preserve, restore, and maintain what is significant to the history and antiquity of Orleans County, New York. We support and promote historical projects in our county and the endeavors of our individual members. We foster and organize educational and entertaining programs. Guest speakers are invited several times per year. Meetings are held in various places throughout the county. In the past, OCHA has had a successful oral history project, paid for the microfilming of country newspapers from their beginning to present, published several historical books, funded historic markers and their placement. OCHA has also funded grants to Orleans County municipal historians to complete local history projects that benefit our area. Our members with their extensive grant writing knowledge have helped many historical organizations in Orleans County to obtain projects funding.

Our membership consists of about 60 people most of whom live in Orleans County. Our members are people from all walks of life who have an interest in the history of our county. OCHA has always used every tool of communication to spread the benefits of history and preservation—the latest is the website you are now viewing.
